Man I really like these newer Beetles. We had a rental his past June in STL and it was great even though it was a total base model.

Mine is a “Base” R-Line. They still come super well equipped, and they’re so good to drive. I always tell anyone that likes them to buy one. It’s the best way to keep VW making them and expanding the model.

I really like how the newer beetles look, how do you like it overall?

It’s an amazing car. The seats, suspension, engine, features, all of it are the perfect blend of weekend sporty and daily driver livability. And its also a distinct car. You don’t see to many out there, and I like that a lot.

FINALLY!

took ya long enough! ;)

welcome to the tuned 2L TSI club, a club that I’m only a member of in heart right now, as the GLI is out of commission until further notice.

I’m guessing APR software?

do you like it?

I did do APR, and I love it! My car can’t get traction at WOT in first and second lol. Next 3 items on the list are tires, a stage 2 clutch, and an LSD lol

What’s going on with the GLI?!

A new bumper, exhaust and motor mounts because I got rear ended....

realistically speaking, probably nothing for awhile. I’ve put some $3k in to it at this point, and I’m pretty much done for now. If I had unlimited money, I’d get a stage 2 clutch, downpipe, catback from AWE, wheels & 245/40/18 tires, CAI, brakes, coilovers and sway bars.

But since I don’t I guess I gotta live with:

stage 1 tune, lowering springs, shifter cable bracket, Michelin Pilot A/S3's and a possibly damaged clutch....

and yep, I’m the same. no traction until third.

Which shifter cable bracket do you have? And how so you like it?

And I kind of like the whole idea of stage 1 type mods across the boardboard. I’ve started calling Reyes:

I have the apr one, andit’s great. I would say get a short shifterwhile you’re at it though. it’s a good thing to have, I like it.

Also, if you’re doing suspension, and can afford it, go for H&R coilovers. It’s worth it

My rear sway has really made all of the changes to the ride that I need. It eliminated a LOT of the roll without adding hardly any harshness

I wanted moar low, and that’s why I got springs instead. dropped the car about an inch with the springs.

I’m hoping it’s not totaled after the rear end hit

yeah....

but hey! look on the bright side! it’s probably fine.

If it’s written off though, I’m pretty sure i'll go right back to the VW dealer, and get yet another one (if not something a bit faster)

Golf. Possibly the R variety.

Or I can go buy a used C63\E63 AMG, with the added pain of amile a gallon

New R is almost as fast. If you get DSG and stage 1 it, it WILL be as fast.

heh, yeah...

I’m thinking 6M/T though, because I prefer it.

although... $32k on a 2009 E63 is a good idea.....

Just remember, a cheap Mercedes ends up being a very expensive Mercedes. What about a Tiguan R-Line? They shuffled the lineup and they’re only like 30k now.

I’ll be honest, my primary concern in a car is it’s performance, then it’s style, then it’s reliability.

While a Golf R or a Tiguan is a cool car, I honestly would rather risk unreliability for more power, noise and style.

Odds are, i'll regret that decision within the year, but hey, might as well be a bit jalop about it while I can ;)
